Sources say King has applied for the chief's position at the Metro Police Department.
This comes just weeks after current Metro Police Chief Tom Lambert was promoted at Metro to a higher position.
Those who are familiar with the job hunt at Metro say King is the likely candidate to get the job.
All of this comes as rank and file police officers at Metro were concerned about an inside candidate getting the job.
One vocal police officer called another potential candidate unqualified and a product of cronyism.
That same officer now calls Chief King a welcomed and qualified candidate for the top job at Metro.
The position has been open at least a month at the public transportation company.
We were not able to reach chief King or officials at Metro tonight for a comment!

For years METRO police has been under the cloak and dagger administration of Tom Lambert/Tim Kelly(29 yrs), two individuals who did their best to hide behind the coat tail of HPD and other law enforcement agencies. Hopefully with a new (POLICE) chief means new Asst. Chief and new captains with real police experience that will better serve the citizens of Houston,Harris County extended area. We at METRO police have failed for so many years to properly police the system and have left it up to everyone else except METRO police. Hopefully a new administration will remove the handcuffs and allow us to work as police officers and not well paid security officers. Thank you Mr. Grenais and Gracia for bringing change.
ReplyDeleteThis officer was afraid of cronyism from the other candidate??? You haven't seen cronyism, arrogance, and sheer ignorance until you've worked for this self-proclaimed "change agent." If change agent means stepping on rank-and-file officers so she can help her buddies (put together the concepts of a color and a nose) get lucrative assignments then I guess I have the wrong dictionary.
ReplyDeleteI am so tired of these narcissistic paper tigers and their pursuit of rewriting commands in their own flawed image. Speaking of image, how about making the face of your department someone that doesn't look like a lassoed ballon?
If I were a Metro Officer I'd be very worried about this. This woman has a known reputation for being a hatchet man with a total disregard for honor and esprit de corps. There's a reason she was passed over for Executive Chief. She's the embodiment of Draconian-style management and a failure as a leader.
