UPDATE: PRESS CONFERENCE AT SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY HAS BEEN CANCELLED BUT THE SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR SAYS A STATEMENT WILL BE ISSUED THIS (WEDNESDAY) MORNING!

It was Sunday evening when Southern University's (Baton Rouge) Athletic Director Greg Lafleur was arrested in Houston.  He was in town for the NCAA Final Four game.

LaFleur's mission on the school's dollar was to attend the big sporting event to recruit a basketball coach for the SWAC school.  LaFleur recently fired the basketball coach at Southern.  However, Harris County prosecutors say LaFleur was recruting something else on the streets of Houston.  A prostitute.

School officials at Southern have called a 10 am press conference for Wednesday morning.  It's not clear what action the school will take before the case makes its way through the courts.  There is another alternative that LaFleur could remove himself from the prestigious position but only time will tell that.

In the meantime, the probable cause in the case, included below, gives very few details.  But the Insite has been told the former NFL player approached a female undercover cop for what investigators call straight sex for hire.

He was arrested and booked into the Harris County jail Sunday night around 8:30 pm on a $500 bond.  He has since been released.
