HIGH PROFILE HOUSTON ATTORNEY HELD IN JAIL WITH NO BOND!

Melontree after being booked into jail!
The Insite has learned a high profile Houston attorney is behind bars today.

Court records show Beverly Melontree was charged with felony evading and was arrested today.

She's being held at the Harris County jail with no bond.

Details are sketchy as to exactly what lead to Melontree's arrest by Houston police officers but the department confirms she was charged.

Her arrest has upset several African American attorneys and community leaders who say there is no need to hold her without a bond.

The Insite called the Harris County District Attorney's office and officials there say they were not sure why she was being held without bond.

Judge Ruben Guerrero
That no bond was set by Harris County Judge Ruben Guerrero.  When we attempted to reach his chambers at 3:28 pm Wednesday his staff said he was on the bench.

Stay tuned for more details here and on Fox 26!

Update: A spokesperson for the Houston Police Department says Melontree was arrested after blocking traffic on the South Loop East near Scott Street.  Officials say when police arrived Melontree allegedly pulled off and drove several miles to Buffalo Speedway before pulling over for police.
