JOLANDA JONES UNDER FIRE AFTER INVESTIGATION SHOWS SHE BROKE THE RULES!

Jolanda Jones
The Office of Inspector General has determined that City Council member Jolanda 'Jo' Jones has violated three executive orders and three city ordinances, according to memorandums posted by the City of Houston legal department.

The investigation by the OIG was launched after a representative with the Houston Police Officer's Union contacted City Attorney David Feldman with concerns about Jones using city resources to distribute a guide to the public titled "Know Your Rights with the Police."

The OIG pursued the investigation March 18 and determined that the guide card included a city-issued telephone number although the card was a private advertisement for Jones' private law practice, according to the memorandum.

The investigation by the OIG also determined that Jones allowed City Council staff to transport her to and from court and help in clerical duties related to her law practice.
In the memorandum, the OIG investigator accused Jones of instructing her staff to not cooperate with the OIG investigation.

Jones, according to the memorandum, met with an OIG investigator, but did not answer any questions and told the investigator she would return with sworn responses to the investigator's questions after meeting with an advisor.

“I have just received this report and will comment further once I have reviewed it. I hold myself and my staff to the highest ethical standards. I look forward to clearing up any misunderstandings with respect to this report as expeditiously as the process permits,” said Jones in a statement released late Wednesday night from her office.
