YOLANDA SMITH WILL SOON BE BACK ON THE JOB AT THE NAACP!

Yolanda Smith
FOX 26 news has learned Houston NAACP Executive Director Yolanda Smith was reinstated tonight to her position after a decision by officials from the national office of the organization.

This comes after weeks of infighting at the local chapter.

Members of the Houston branch met with officials from the national office this evening as part of an internal investigation.

It was at that meeting where members from the national office also stripped the local executive committee in Houston with the ability to decide personnel matters.

Smith could be back on the job as soon as next week.

Smith was initially terminated by the local president of the civil rights group after allegations she removed a computer from NAACP local offices last month.  That came after President Dr. D.Z. Cofield began an independent probe into the chapter's finances. However, the executive committee decided to place Smith on leave.

Officials with the national office declined to comment on the issue tonight saying it was an internal matter!
