THE HOUSTON BRANCH OF THE NAACP HAS BEEN DEALT YET ANOTHER LEGAL BLOW OVER THE WEEKEND.
THE CIVIL RIGHTS ORGANIZATION HAS BEEN ORDERED BY THE NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD TO MAKE WHOLE AN ATTORNEY WHO WAS RETALIATED AGAINST BY THE ORGANIZATION IN 2010.
Tracie Jackson - Houston attorney |
IT WAS BACK IN JUNE WHEN WE REPORTED TRACIE JACKSON SAYS SHE WAS THE VICTIM OF RETALIATION BY NAACP EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR YOLANDA SMITH.
THAT RETALIATION ACCORDING TO THE FEDERAL COMPLAINT HAPPENED AFTER JACKSON BEGAN QUESTIONING WHY EMPLOYEES AT THE HOUSTON BRANCH WERE NOT GOING TO BE PAID LAST YEAR.
JACKSON SAYS AS A RESULT OF HER ACTIONS THE GROUP REFUSED TO REHIRE HER ONCE HER CONTRACT PERIOD WAS OVER.
JACKSON, WHO SERVED AS AN ATTORNEY FOR THE GROUP, WON HER CASE LAST WEEK.
A FEDERAL ADMINISTRATIVE JUDGE WITH THE N.L.R.B. HAS ORDERED THE NAACP TO HIRE THE ATTORNEY BACK.
THE GROUP IS ALSO REQUIRED TO COMPENSATE JACKSON FOR TIME LOSS FROM THE JOB.
WE'VE LEARNED THERE WILL LIKELY BE A PRESS CONFERENCE CALLED BY JACKSON AND HER TEAM OF ATTORNEYS SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY.
THE ORIGINAL REPORT FROM JUNE 20TH, 2011:
Another example of mismanagement and selfish agenda. I have my own opinions about certain "civil rights leaders" and organizations of the sort who have been guilty of exploiting those they claim to protect, however, this is sheer stupidity by an individual who thought status was above statute.
