The Insite has learned there is a fundraising effort to make Harris County deputies more visible from the sky. That's the problem the helicopter unit from the sheriff's department seems to have when they're in the ir during a hot pursuit according to Bob Goerlitz. He's the president for the Harris County Deputies Organization. Goerlitz says he'd like to see big bold squad unit numbers on top of their vehicles like at HPD. Goerlitz says he realizes the county is facing serious budget issues and now is not the time to ask for such an expense. That's why deputies are turning to the public for help. They're hoping to raise money through private donations to but a former of tape to go on squad cars to make them visible to department's helicopters. If you're interested in helping out contact the Harris County Deputies Organization in Houston. They can be reached at: 713-659-0005!
