WHERE IS THE CONSTABLE ON THE CANDIDATES' FILING LIST?

Jack Abercia missing in action
After a year of being dogged in the news media a very highly visible Harris County Constable has disappeared from the candidates' filing list.

That incumbent is Jack Abercia.

The democrat has been in office since 1991 but his reputation took a big hit in 2011.

This after reports in the news about his income as well as a controversial hire at Precinct 1.

Abercia's office is also reportedly the target of an investigation by the FBI over hiring that controversial  deputy according to court records which show a subpoena ordering a grand jury appearance.

The Constable's name appeared earlier this month as a candidate (incumbent) on the Harris County Democratic Party's website.

Now, Aberica's name is visibly absent.

An earlier article in the Houston Chronicle also indicated the veteran lawman was running for reelection but a source tells me he abruptly pulled his name from the list this week.

The Insite also hears some of Abercia's high ranking deputies will soon be calling it quits after a controversial year as well.

What do you know about the shakeup at Precinct 1?

I'm hoping to get a comment from the Harris County Democratic party but that's been difficult over the holiday break.

I'll keep you updated!
