SOAKING UP THE KNOWLEDGE OF THOSE IN THE BUSINESS!
It was all about learning at Texas Southern University for some young journalists and media professionals Saturday. They attended the Regional Conference of the National Association of Black Journalists. Some came from Arkansas, Tennessee and Louisiana to participate and learn from various panel discussions and seminars. The keynote speaker was CNN's Roland Martin. The Insite had a chance to sit on the first panel to explore the use of technology on the job. Those in attendance were very attentive and sponge-like with the knowledge disseminated at the session. Students also created a newsletter and radio broadcast of the event. It was worth attending even though the Insite has been feeling under the weather for the last week. But enough about me. I ran into lots of familiar faces at the event including Regional Director Cindy George who invited me to take part. Also attending were: HABJ local president David Ellis, Rochelle Rucker, Serbino Walker, Phyllis Bailey, Amani Ali, Gloria Neal, Frank Wiley, Stevon Ross, Latrice Pinkins, Leshelle Sargent and a host of others. The wrap will take place tonight at the Red Cat Jazz Cafe' in downtown Houston!
