DID COUNCIL MEMBER JOLANDA JONES LOSE HER LAW LICENSE?

UPDATE: JONES APPARENTLY HAS PAID HER FEES WITHIN THE LAST HOUR AND NOW SHE'S REINSTATED AS A LICENSED ATTORNEY!

FOX 26 News has learned Houston City Councilwoman Jolanda Jones' law license was suspended and reinstated in the same day.

As of 5 p.m. Thursday, Jones’ members license was suspended for not paying various fees and dues, according to the Texas State Bar.

When we checked with the state bar an hour later, Jones was listed in good standing with the state.

"It is possible that payment was made late this afternoon and reflected as such on our website," state bar spokeswoman Kim Davey said.

Jones’ spokeswoman Kelly Cripe called FOX 26 to complain, saying the suspension was not related to allegations of Jones using city resources to benefit her private law practice.

Earlier in the day, Mayor Annise Parker issued her findings after an investigation into Jones.

Parker says Jones agreed to correct the problems along with conducting ethics training for her and her city staff.
