I hit the Hardy Toll Road early Thursday morning hoping it would get me to work on time because of the delays on the freeway.
In my hurry I failed to notice that I didn't have enough silver coins...So, I opted for what I did have in my car. Pennies. Lots of pennies.
In fact, I had just enough pennies to get me through the entire stretch of the Hardy Toll Road.
However, when I dropped my 93 pennies into the machine I noticed it only registered 90.
In my book that means I was jacked by the toll road. Harris County owes me some change.
As a result of my financial loss I called the toll road system Thursday afternoon. A customer service rep first told me pennies are not allowed because the toll coin machines are not set up to count pennies.
Then I thought about the 90 pennies the machine did accept.
That rep then said it was against the rules. What rules? Then she said the machines don't accept pennies, so if you deposit them you're just stuck out because they won't register.
Stuck out? I just want my 3 cents back from the county because money is money.
What do you think?

1) You made a mistake, why should the toll road have to pay for it? I see an attendant station, why didn't you opt to go to the window and fill out the "i hit the road unprepared" paperwork?
ReplyDelete2) Its not a matter of whether the machine can count the pennies. I'm sure the no penny rule is to reduce the amount of trips made by attendants across the lanes to empty penny-full or penny jammed machines. Every time they have to make a trip to the change only station their life is at risk.
LOL! It only happens to you Isiah......
