The prospect of an NBA season is fading daily, but Pearland police say Portland Trailblazers center Marcus Camby kept busy Thursday by smoking marijuana.
Camby, 37, was charged with "possession of marijuana - two ounces or less - in a drug free zone," according to a statement from the Pearland Police Department. The charge is classified as a Class A misdemeanor.
Camby and Kendal Lance Johnson, 24, were riding in a black 2010 Porsche Panamera when an officer stopped the car for an equipment violation near Dawson High School on Cullen Boulevard. Upon approaching the car, the officer "detected the odor of burnt marijuana emanating from within the vehicle," according to the statement.
The officer searched the car, found less than two ounces of marijuana and arrested both Camby and Johnson.
Bond has been set at $2,000 each for Camby and Johnson. If convicted, they face up to one year in jail and up to a $4,000 fine.
