R&B ARTIST VESTA WILLIAMS FOUND DEAD IN LOS ANGELES HOTEL ROOM!

R&B singer Vesta Williams, a Coschocton, Ohio native best known for the 1980s quiet storm hit "Congratulations," was reportedly found dead in a Los Angeles hotel room Thursday night.

In recent reports, Williams' age is listed as 48, though she stated in a 2010 video that she was 53.

Before achieving solo success, Williams started off as a background singer for several artists, including Stephanie Mills, Jermaine Jackson and Jeffrey Osborne. Her vocals can also be heard on Detroit native Anita Baker's breakout album, "Rapture," and at times was a fill-in vocalists for Chaka Khan's live engagements.

In addition to "Congratulations," Williams charted with "Once Bitten, Twice Shy," "Sweet, Sweet Love," "Special" and "I'll Be Good To You."

In the mid-2000s, Vesta was one of many celebrities to audition for a drive-time hosting gig on WDMK (102.7) before the station changed formats. WJLB and other urban radio stations were heard playing "Congratulations" early Friday morning as news of Williams' death spread.

One of Williams' last televised appearances was last year on BET's "The Mo'Nique Show," where she detailed the production behind "Congratulations."
