WHO'S TELLING THE TRUTH ABOUT THE APOLOGY TO COUNCIL MEMBER JOLANDA JONES?

It was just last month when City Attorney David Feldman was accused of mocking and poking fun at Houston City Council Member Jolanda Jones.

Some activist in the African American community asked for Feldman to resign because of what they described as unprofessional behavior.

Early last week activist Quanell X, who asked for Feldman's resignation, told the Insite he'd received a response from Mayor Annise Parker.

X says the Mayor ordered Feldman to apologize to the council member for his behavior during an office party at the City Attorney's office back in August where he allegedly wore long hoop earrings.

When the Insite communicated with the Mayor's spokesperson Jessica Michan to confirm the apology I was sent an email reading: No, she did not correspond with Quanell X.

The Insite then contacted Quanell X for proof that Mayor Parker had in fact asked the City Attorney to apologize to Jones. X without delay sent the Insite the following correspondence which came from an email address at the city of Houston:

Dear Minister Quanell X:

Mayor Parker has asked me to forward her response to your email of August 29, 2011, in regard to City Attorney Feldman.

Dear Minister Quanell X:

Council Members are due the respect of their office. It is not appropriate for any city employee to disparage any Council Member.

I have directed City Attorney Feldman to personally apologize to Council Member Jones. The Council Member has declined to meet with him or us.

Sincerely,
Annise D. Parker Mayor
