THE ENRON TRIAL IS NOT COMPLETELY BORING!!!
The Enron criminal trial has been methodical and very slow but there have been some highlights and funny moments. Under cross exam by Daniel Petrocelli Former Enron treasurer Ben Glisan once again claimed he had a drinking problem...and he says as a result the government placed him in an alcohol dependency program that would cut a year off his sentence. So Glisan was asked about his drinking on the stand. He says while at Enron after work he would go home and have a couple of glasses of wine each night. And for that he qualified for the government's alcohol dependency program that would cut a year off his 5 year sentence. When Petrocelli began his cross of Glisan he asked him about that drinking problem again. A couple of glasses of wine everyday after work. Petrocelli responded to Glisan's alleged alcoholism "If you got a drinking problem, I'm in serious trouble." The court and jurors fell out in laughter. Petrocelli was attempting to show the alcohol treatment program was solely for the purpose of getting Glisan out of prison early for helping the Enron taskforce try and convict Petrocelli's client Jeff Skilling and Ken Lay.
that is funny.
ReplyDeletewhat the government is doing with thir list of witnesses is just so obvious. they're all getting paid on the back end for testifying against skilling and lay
