GIFT BASKETS, ATTORNEYS AND ONE LONG NIGHT!!!!!
Rosie Hernandez, Florence Watkins, Christopher Mays and Theresa Orta were all at city hall Tuesday hoping to get their jobs back. All four city workers were fired after an investigation revealed they recieved $140,000 in unauthorized bonuses from the Mayor Pro Tem's office then headed by councilmember Carol Alvarado who has since stepped down. However, Alvarado says she did not approve the bonuses. The Insite had a chance to peek my head into the meeting while the Enron criminal trial was on a lunch break. At about noon not much was happening except attorneys arguing over what evidence should be allowed into the Civil service commission hearing. Watkins' attorney pushed to have a gift basket as evidence but said Watkins may need it again if there are criminal charges. The hearing was moving extremely slow as of late Tuesday evening. Alvarado testified today but denied once again that she approved the bonuses...
UPDATE: THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION VOTED EARLY THIS MORNING NOT TO REHIRE THE 4 CITY HALL WORKERS...
