GUEST BLOGGER WILLIE D: WEIGHS IN ON THE USE OF "N" WORD IN REFERENCE TO A PREVIOUS POST!!!!

TIME TO SOUND OFF ONE MORE TIME ON THE INSITE!!!!

Hey folks, this comment comes after the shell station incident I told you all about several weeks ago and Geto Boys Member Willie D drops off his opinion on the issue-

WILLIE D: AAAAH... NOTHING LIKE A SLAP OF GOOD OL' RACIAL DISCUSSION TO GET FOLKS ALL FIRED UP. FIRST OFF I'M A RAPPER AND YES I DO USE THE WORD NIGGA, (NOT NIGGER) ON MY SONGS AND IN EVERYDAY TALK (OCCASIONALLY). LOOK PEOPLE, WE LIVE IN A DOUBLE STANDARD SOCIETY, GET OVER IT. IS IT FAIR TO HAVE LADIES NIGHT AT THE CLUBS ALL THE TIME, WHEN IT'S THE MEN WHO BUY ALL THE DRINKS AND PAY ADMISSION, SUBSEQUENTLY MAKING THESE NIGHT CLUBS RICH. NO! IS IT FAIR THAT A MAN CAN SLEEP AROUND AND HE'S CONSIDERED A PLAYER, BUT IF A WOMAN DOES IT, SHE'S A STRAIGHT UP &%@. NO. YOU GET THE PICTURE. THAT'S NOT GONNA CHANGE. SO THE FACT THAT BLACKS USE THE WORD NIGGA (NOT NIGGER) TO COMMUNICATE WITH OR REFERENCE ONE ANOTHER, DOES NOT MEAN THAT NON-BLACKS ARE GOING TO GET THE SAME PASS WHEN THEY USE IT. THIS IS THE SAME LOGIC THAT APPLIES TO WHITES, WHEN THEY CALL ONE ANOTHER CRACKER, WHITE TRASH OR WHATEVER, AND TO MEXICANS WHEN THEY FREQUENTLY CALL ONE ANOTHER WETBACKS. THE REASON I KNOW THIS, IS BECAUSE, I HAVE BEEN ALL OVER THE WORLD AND HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE FRIENDS FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE. I HAVE WITNESSED MUSLIMS FROM AZERBAIJAN TO THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, USE RACIAL SLURS AGAINST THIER OWN. THE BOTTOM LINE IS... THEY CAN, YOU CAN'T. IF YOU ARE NOT THE SAME RACE OF AN ETHNC GROUP AND YOU ARE BUSTED UTTERING A WORD THAT IS DEEMED TO BE RACIALLY OFFENSIVE BY THAT GROUP, COMING FROM THE MOUTHS OTHERS, YOUR JOB, SOCIAL STATUS AND DID I MENTION HEALTH, MAY BE PUT AT SERIOUS RISK... AND THAT'S REAL TALK.

what, so just because everyone else is doing, we should?

like we learned yesterday at the Enron trial, ignorance isn't an answer. ignoring the problem won't make it go away.

maybe the society is equal on all fronts yet, but it's not going to balance out any faster if we say "to hell with it" and just go along with the trend... start setting a good example, ESPECIALLY those of you in the spotlight, for goodness sake!

stand up and try to make a difference... choose not to use derogatory words, and maybe those around you will follow your example. show others that you're bigger than that crap...

Willie D- you are an idiot. There are plenty of black who are offende by the n word regardles of what colr the person saying it is. There is no "pass." You might get away with saying nigger to wannabe gangta losers, but it is not accepted in common every day etiquette (which as a rapper you wouldn't be well versed in) And really, white people rarely call each other cracker, nor is cracker anywhere near as offensive as the n word. I honestlry thank God that there aren't that many willie d's out there. You are a cancer to society.

BTW nigga is the same as nigger, it's just a slang version of slang, which is really dumb if you think about it.

Hey Willie! I need to clue you in on something. White people only call each other "cracker" when they are mocking people who talk that way. Sorry to break it to you. By the way, spelling it like you have a Boston accent does not fool anyone.

"We live in a double standard society, just get over it." Boy, these are true words of wisdom that must have Rosa Parks rolling in her grave.

Willie is a traitor to black people, he's even comparing ladies night to racial slurs. This is the best guest blog ever.

LET ME TELL ALL YOU LITTLE "GOOD FOR NOTHING,FINGER POINTING,IN DENIAL, JUMP BAD IN ANONYMITY ASSES SOMETHING." RAPPERS DIDN'T INVENT THE "N" WORD OR PUT IT IN THE DICTIONARY, NO MORE THAN ANY ONE OF YOU CLOWNS INVENTED ALCOHOL,CIGARETTES OR THE CHEMICALS INSERTED IN OUR DAILY FOOD CONSUMPTION. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE MUST BE A SCAPEGOAT FOR OUR SOCIAL DILEMMMAS (OTHERWISE WE'D HAVE TO LOOK AT OURSELVES... WOULDN'T WANNA DO THAT). I UNDERSTAND THAT THE WORLD IS MORALLY OFF TILT AND THAT WE ALL HAVE A HUMAN OBLIGATION TO DO OUR PART TO MAKE THINGS BETTER. HAVING SAID THAT, APPROPIATE MORALS REST IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER. IT'S FUNNY HOW YOU GUYS ARE IN AN UPROAR OVER THE USE OF THE "N" WORD BUT COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE AFOREMENTIONED HEALTH RISKS. SO, YOU'RE TELLING ME THAT ALCOHOL, CIGARETTES, FOOD CHEMICALS, ETC, HAVE SCIENTIFIC PROOF OF KILLING HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE EVERYDAY AND THE BATTLE THAT YOU WANT TO EXHAUST ALL YOUR ENERGY ON IS THE USE OF A WORD? YEAH IT'S CONTROVERSAL AND HISTORICALLY OPPRESSIVE BUT IF WE COULD SAY NIGGA AND KILL SOMEBODY, THERE WOULD BE NO ONE LEFT ON EARTH. YOU KNOW WHY? BECAUSE WE ALL HAVE USED IT AT SOME TIME OR ANOTHER. I RAP... I'M IN THE SPOTLIGHT. LIKE IT OR NOT, I'M GOING TO BE HELD TO A HIGHER STANDARD. I ACCEPT THAT. IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT I CAN'T HAVE MY OWN IDENTITY AND CHOOSE TO SPEAK HOW I FEEL, THE SAME AS YOU GUYS CHOOSE TO SPEAK HOW YOU FEEL... BUT I ACCEPT THAT. AND I ACCEPT THE OPINIONS OF THOSE OF YOU WHO RESPECTFULLY DISAGREED WITH ME. HOWEVER, WHEN SOMEONE ATTEMPTS TO MALICIOUSLY ASSASSINATE MY CHARACTER TO ADVANCE THERE OWN SELFISH AGENDA AND CALL ME AN IDIOT, AS MARIO GARZA (IF THAT IS INDEED HIS NAME) DID, OR THE "ANONYMOUS" BLOGGER WHO CALLED ME A TRAITOR TO BLACK PEOPLE DID, RETALIATION IS A MUST! HEY MARIO, YOU IDIOT...IT'S OBVIOUS THAT YOU HAVE A CHIP ON YOUR SHOULDER AS IT PERTAINS TO RAPPERS, SO WHATEVER COMMENT YOU MAKE FROM HERE OUT HAS ABSOLUTELY NO CREDIBILITY. YOU ELUDED TO US (RAPPERS) COLLECTIVELY BEING UNINTELLIGENT. WELL EXPLAIN TO ME WHY IS IT THAT WE OWN MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR CLOTHING COMPANIES, INVESTMENT FIRMS, ENTERTAINMENT EMPIRES, SPORTS TEAMS (PROFESSIONAL!), AUTOMOBILE DEALERSHIPS, LUXURY TRAVEL AGENCIES... I CAN GO ON AND ON SUCKA, BUT OBVIOUSLY I'VE GIVEN YOU MORE TIME THAN YOUR DADDY GAVE YOUR MOTHER WHEN THE ABRUPTLY CONCEIVED YOU ON THE ROLLER COASTER AT ASTROWORLD. NO ONE ELSE HAS OR EVER WILL GIVE YOU THIS MUCH SHINE AND TIME IN YOUR SORRY EXCUSE FOR HUMAN EXISTENCE LIFE, ESPECIALLY THE BEAUTIFUL WOMEN THAT GRACE MY VIDEOS AND SUPPORT MY MUSIC... OUCH! THAT HURT DIDN'T IT SUCKA? THIS IS THE BIG LEAGUES BOY, YOU DON'T WANT IT WITH ME. DON'T HATE, GET IT STRAIGHT... DUMMY! NOW, AS FOR THE ANONYMOUS BLOGGER, OFFENDED BY MY COMMENTS "WE LIVE IN A DOUBLE STANDARD SOCIETY, GET OVER IT," MY POINT IS THAT SOME DOUBLE STANDARDS ARE JUST NOT AS IMPORTANT TO US AS A SOCIETY TO FIGHT AND PROTEST FOR AS OTHERS. I KNOW IT'S NOT THE POLITICALLY CORRECT THING TO SAY BUT I'M NOT A POLITICIAN, I'M JUST A MAN WITH REALISTIC VIEWS ABOUT OUR SOCIETY. BUT IF THAT'S THE WAY SOMEONE FEELS, IT'S COOL. I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THAT. HOWEVER, WHEN YOU CALL ME A TRAITOR TO BLACK PEOPLE, YOU ARE, AS MY STEPFATHER USED TO SAY "SPELLING YOUR PISS." I HAVE ALWAYS GIVEN MY TIME AND MONEY TO CHAMPION THE CAUSE OF THE UNDERSERVED AND LESS FORTUNATE, ESPECIALLY FOR BLACKS. CHECK THE RECORD CHUMP! MY LIFE IS AN OPEN BOOK. I'M NOT PERFECT...NEVER CLAIMED TO BE... AND NEITHER ARE YOU MR. OR MRS., WELL SENCE YOU'RE THROWING ROCKS AND HIDING YOUR HAND TO THE POINT THAT I DON'T KNOW IF YOUR GENDER CLASSIFICATION, I'LL JUST CALL YOU HESHE. I HAVE PROTESTED ON THE STREETS OF FIFTH WARD AND MARCHED ON WASHINGTON. I HAVE SPOKEN TO (FOR THE PURPOSE OF TURNING THEIR LIVES AROUND)INCARCERATED JUVENILES IN CALIFORNIA, TO CONDEMNED INMATES IN TEXAS' PRISON SYSTEM. I HAVE GIVEN MONEY TO BOOT PACKING FIREFIGHTERS ON CITY STREET CORNERS, TO THE RED CROSS FOR DESASTER RELIEF FOR BOTH 911 VICTIMS AND KATRINA EVACUEES... I'VE ALSO VOLUNTEERED TILL MY FEET HAD BLISTERS AND MY BODY NEEDED A FULL WEEK TO RECOVER FROM THE STRAINS SUSTAINED BY THE BOXES THAT I LIFTED DURING THE IMMEDIATE KATRINA RELIEF PHASE, AT MY GOOD FRIEND'S PLACE OF BUSINESS, HILTON OF HILTON'S FURNITURE... AND DID I MENTION THAT I TOOK MY EIGHTEEN YEAR OLD NIECE AND FELLOW "RAPPER" SWIFF HAYWIRE WITH ME. HESHE, TO JUDGE ME AS A PERSON BY ONE COMMENT OR A SONG OR WHATEVER AND NOT REALLY KNOW ME, BUT FIX YOUR FINGERS TO CALL ME A TRAITOR OF ANY SORT IS PREPOSTEROUS AT BEST. ANYBODY WHO KNOWS ME, KNOWS THAT IF NOTHING ELSE, I AM LOYAL... AND FOR THE RECORD, I GETS NOTHING BUT LOVE ANYWHERE BLACK PEOPLE ARE... ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO ARE STILL LIVING A HARD LIFE. GO TO ANY OF THE PEOPLE I'VE HELPED BUY FIRST HOUSES FOR, BOUGHT BIKES AT CHRISTMAS TIME FOR, ASSISTED WITH SEARCH EFFORTS OF MISSING LOVED ONES WITH, STOPPED FROM BEING BULLIED AT SCHOOL, OR SIMPLY GAVE A FEW WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO, AND I BET YOU WOULD BE HARD PRESSED TO FIND ANYONE WHO WOULD EVEN REMOTELY CONSIDER ME A TRAITOR. I'VE DONE PLENTY TO IN SUPPORT OF MY FELLOW MAN, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE CHUMP????

I don't use the n word because it serves no purpose other than to try and make someone else feel pretty lousy for being not white. That's all I can rebuff because Willie D rambles on and on with very little point.

We all commit some sort of sin, but doing good things does "right a wrong." Ken Lay gave money to the YMCa, buthe is still a crook that ruined the lives of thousands of people. He didn't kill them, no he just robbed them of their retirement, but it was still wrong! The YMCA money doesnt make stealing the employee money any better nordoes marching in a protest excuse the exploitive use of the n word. Racist slang is very damaging to the victim, it's not AIDS but it still matters.

I agree with this, but only if such language is used in a setting with people who will not be offended by the langauge.

We (adults) are also responsible for making sure our kids are brought up right. Many children hear such language and do not know when it would be appropriate for its use.

What about those from other countries or cultures? We have to think about how they see this as well.

Personally, as a white male, I don't get offended when I hear this language used by an Afro American, but I do get offended if it is used around my kids. I don't want my kids using such language and neither does Willie D, I'm sure.

I am just going to list a couple of points.

1.Black people in America today are better off than we have EVER been in the history of this country, yet we use that word now more than we EVER have in history. Why?

    2. Why is it that we no longer hear people refer to women as "Foxes" and men as "Cats"? Why is it that we rarely hear black people say "Right On" anymore? Why is it that black people can stop saying those things but can't seem to let go of one of the most hate filled words in the history of this planet? I believe we can indeed stop using that word.

3.Often the argument is made that we as black people use that word because it takes the "power" out of it. Well, if the power has been taken out of it, then why is it a white person cannot walk up to us and call us that word? If the power has been taken out, then it shouldn't affect us....right?

    4. One of the biggest lessons I've learned in life is, "Good intentions does not equate to being correct"? Just because we don't mean any harm when we call each other that word, does not mean it is correct or that it isn't harmful.

4a. Willie D, have you ever been a room full of white people and another black person walks up to you and loudly refer to you as a nigga? Notice I said nigga and not nigger, so his intentions were good because we both were black and he ended the word with a 'a' instead of 'er'. Because he didn't mean it in a bad way made it ok, right? Was I wrong in being embarrased because he didn't mean it in a negative way?

    5. From a Christian perspective, Proverbs 18:21 says, " Death and life are in the power of the tongue".

5a. Throughout the bible there are example after example after example of God changing people's names. Why did he change people's names? What was the significance of changing a person's name? God understood the power of words and each time a person's name was said, the meaning of that word was spoken into the earth spiritually until the meaning of that name came into existence for that person. We as black Americans constantly refer to each other (especially black men) as that n-word, and it is my personal belief that we are speaking death to our own people every time we do it. It may seem far fetched to some but the words we speak actually have an affect on our lives and our communities and I believe the constant reference to ourselves as that word has indeed affected our community, whether we think so or not.

5b. Genesis 1 .....When God created the earth, the bible says, "And God SAID let there be light". "And God SAID let there be firmament in the midst of the waters ". "And God SAID.........", And God SAID......it goes on and on. Why didn't God just wave his hands and create these things? He is almighty God but he himself had to SPEAK them into existence because that is how the law is set up. It does indeed matter the words we say and the things we call each other.

I will stop right here. But we as a people must realize the negative aspects of embracing that word. That word is poisonous no matter the intention. The words "Child Molester" will ALWAYS mean something negative to me, no matter who adopts the words as words of endearment. Certain words will always be poisonous and Child Molester, Child Molesta, Nigger, Nigga, Racist, or Racista, will have nothing but negativity attached to them in my eyes.

    That's my sermon :)

I see where Willie D is coming from. And also, if you care to know what I think; if someone uses the N word, it doesn't make them right but, regardless of what anyone has to say, African American have come a long way. We are still stereotyped but, you know what? We are still successful. We have the Isiah Careys, Willie D's, Denzel Washingtons, and so on.I feel when we say the N word, it's kind of like saying,"yeah, we were called that but look at us now. So, if you feel that you can hurt us with the N word, guess what? We can't be stopped!
