DUTCHTOWN HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER ARRESTED FOR GOING TOO FAR WITH A STUDENT!Ascension Parish sheriff's detectives say a Dutchtown High School teacher accused of having inappropriate relations with an 18-year-old student has been arrested.
According to Chief Deputy Tony Bacala, the student's mother brought the relationship to the attention of school and law enforcement officials last week.
In the course of the investigation, detectives say they spoke to the student and were told that he and the teacher were romantically involved and their physical relationship involved kissing and fondling.
Bacala says a warrant was obtained for the arrest of 41-year-old Sharon Suzonne Oleson of Prairieville for prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and student.
The statute that Oleson was cited under was enacted in the 2007 regular legislative session and went into effect in August 2007.
The statute makes criminal certain sexual acts, including inappropriate touching, when done by an educator with a student who is 17 or 18 years old.
Oleson was booked into the Ascension Parish Prison and her bond has been set at $10,000.
My son had this teacher this year. She worked with and encouraged him to do better. His grades came up from D's to A's and B's.
ReplyDeleteAt the school she taught at before DHS, the student have posted nothing but positive comments about her.
I can't say that she didn't cross the line with this student but I'm behind her 100%.

Im still wondering where were all the horny teachers at when I was in school during the 80s
ReplyDeleteIm scratching my head because Im wondering if this is something new or its just being reported on more.
If I can remember, teachers were not necessary more older, but had more self respect for themselves and their profession they took more serious.
I had her as a teacher back about five years ago. I can't say that she didn't do this. But I will say that she does inspire kids to try harder and to do better. She was one of the best teachers that I ever had. The world needs more teachers like her. If the is true it's not the first time this would happen and it's not like the guy was underage, he's legally an adult. I'll support her no matter what happens.
