THE INSITE TOLD YOU THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN: PERRY NOW SAYS TEXAS MAY WANT TO SECEDE FROM THE UNION!

NO APOLOGIES NECESSARY, JUST TELL ME IF YOU'RE STAYING IN THE LONE STAR STATE IF WE GO ROGUE!

I got some criticism on Tuesday for suggesting Governor Rick Perry was considering seceding from the Union. Some of the readers said I was hearing what I wanted to hear. Others suggested I was misleading readers. It only takes time for vindication because the Guv has officially said what I told you was coming. Here's the latest on Rick Perry's efforts to make Texas a stand alone country:

Texas Gov. Rick Perry fired up an anti-tax "tea party" Wednesday with his stance against the federal government and for states' rights as some in his U.S. flag-waving audience shouted, "Secede!"

An animated Perry told the crowd at Austin City Hall -- one of three tea parties he was attending across the state -- that officials in Washington have abandoned the country's founding principles of limited government. He said the federal government is strangling Americans with taxation, spending and debt.

Perry repeated his running theme that Texas' economy is in relatively good shape compared with other states and with the "federal budget mess." Many in the crowd held signs deriding President Barack Obama and the $786 billion federal economic stimulus package.

Later, answering news reporters' questions, Perry suggested Texans might at some point get so fed up they would want to secede from the union, though he said he sees no reason why Texas should do that.

  1. Maybe I've missed it, but your quote still doesn't suggest that Governor Perry wants to secede from the U.S. "Perry suggested Texans might at some point get so fed up they would want to secede from the union, though he said he sees no reason why Texas should do that." Your quote still says he doesn't want to secede.

To answer your question, though, yes, I'd stay in Texas. I'm not an advocate of secession, but, in some ways it makes a lot of sense.

  2. Why does this post have a confederate battle flag? Texas was it's own country once before under the Texas flag. I think you are misleading people with the confederate battle flag because it has nothing to do with what you posted.

  3. Why the rebel flag? What does it have to do with Perry's grandstanding?

First the Republicans said the rebel flag was just a show of southern pride. Now they're all upset because its by their boy Rick. You people can't have it both ways.

  5. It is a symbol of Southern pride but it has no bearing on what Rick Perry is doing presently.

  6. Yeah, 3:31, you missed the point. The Confederate flag has nothing to do with Texas independence.
