THREE PEOPLE DROWN IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY!

Bad weather led a boat to capsize on Lake Conroe - sending its four occupants into water. Only three of those boaters survived.

The incident happened Sunday night as a grandfather and his daughter, grandson, and son-in-law took to the lake. Authorities say the family tied up under FM 1097 and began fishing.

Just before 10 p.m., bad weather sent a wave over the side of their 16-foot boat. All four were sent into the water. The daughter managed to use her cell phone to call for help, with lake patrol responding and quickly pulling out all four.

Rescuers said the 65-year-old grandfather, identified as Richard Lamberth, was found floating face down.

He was sent to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The drowning is the third in a week in Montgomery County and the second on Lake Conroe.

According to officials, alcohol does not appear to be a factor in Sunday’s death.
