LATEST UPDATE ON CITY OF HOUSTON HUMAN RESOURCE DEPARTMENT SHAKE UP!

22 human resources employees at the Houston Fire Department and 3 at Municipal Court have been told they will have to re-apply for jobs at the city, in a story First on FOX.
This notice went to workers in the human resources division, FOX 26 News learned.
After that report, Jessica Michan, spokeswoman for Mayor Annise Parker, confirmed there is a shake up within the city.
Michan released the following statement Thursday afternoon from Omar Reid, head of the city's Human Resource department:
"The City of Houston is starting to implement a plan designed to bring the Human Resources Department into the 21 st century. Employees are being asked to apply for the jobs they want under the new consolidated HR operation, not to reapply for their current jobs. Services departments are receiving will not be lost; they will be enhanced under a new organization model that will also result in cost savings for the city."
What remains clear is if the city wants to streamline and save money, then some city workers will not likely get rehired.
Sources tell FOX 26 this development could affect the human resources department at the city's police department and municipal court system as well.
