SOME HOUSTON CITY WORKERS COULD LOSE THEIR JOBS!

The Insite has learned just under 20 civilian employees at the Houston Fire Department have been told they will have to re-apply for their jobs. This notice went to workers in the human resources division.

The Insite first broke the news of Fox 26 news at noon.

After that report Mayor Annise Parker's spokesperson confirmed there is a shake up.

Jessica Michan released this statement from the head of the city's Human Resource department. What's clear is this...if the city wants to streamline and save money then some city workers won't likely get re-hired.

Statement:

“The City of Houston is starting to implement a plan designed to bring the Human Resources Department into the 21 st century. Employees are being asked to apply for the jobs they want under the new consolidated HR operation, not to reapply for their current jobs. Services departments are receiving will not be lost; they will be enhanced under a new organization model that will also result in cost savings for the city.”
