Sources who attended that meeting said several retired officers were not allowed into the meeting and were told to leave. Those are some of the same officers who have been asking questions about the direction and accountability of the group.
As previously reported here on the Insite some have alleged the group hasn't held elections for officers in years. There are also questions about how the membership dues are being spent.
Todays developments may be the result of many expressing their displeasure with the current leadership of the organzation.
One source who was also not allowed into the meeting says, "we're not going to stand for this kind of bull*it."
The Insite has been told just under a half dozens retired HPD cops were told they were not allowed into the meeting.
The Insite is hoping to get more answers and the other side of the story!
THE REASON THAT THOSE BLACK RETIRED OFFICERS WERE NOT ALLOWED IN THE MEETING WAS BECAUSE THEY WERE ASKING TOUGH QUESTIONS TO THE LEADERSHIP AT THE LAST MEETING ABOUT HOW PRESIDENT MITCH RUFFIN AND THE BOARD WERE SPENDING THE MONEY OF THE MEMBERSHIP. THESE OFFICERS WERE ASKING FOR FINANCIAL STATEMENTS OF THE LAST FIVE YEARS AND IN RESPONSE TO THOSE QUESTIONS , NOW IT LOOKS LIKE A COVERUP. THESE QUESTIONS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ASKED ALONG TIME AGO BUT THE MEMBERSHIP HAS GOTTEN COMPLACENT AND HAS ALLOWED THIS MISUSE OF MONEY BY MITCH RUFFIN AND NORRIS GROVES. THE ONLY REASON FOR MITCH AND NORRIS TO KEEP OUT THOSE MEMBERS IS SOMETHING FOUL MUST HAVE HAPPENED TO THE MONEY. ALL MEMBERS SHOULD WANT TO KNOW WHERE THE MONEY IS AND WHAT IT WAS SPENT ON. IF MITCH AND NORRIS GROVES HAVE BEEN MISUSING THE MEMBERS MONEY THEN THEY SHOULD BE PUT IN JAIL.
ReplyDeleteI am not surprised its about time someone had the courage to ask something of importance in those meetings. I think that President Ruffin and that board have something to hide. I have gone to meetings for years and I have never seen retired black officers treated like this. It is really sad and shameful that AAPOL has stooped to this level. This is a sad organization and after the way that board acted toward those officers, I am going to have to rethink my membership. I always thought those guys were doing something funny with the money.
ReplyDeleteAAPOL is a weak group in the first place. They allowed those funds that were taken out all of our checks to be misused and possibly stolen from the membership. Now all of those members in the meeting who were timid and afraid to ask the tough questions to Mitch and Norris and allowed those retired officers to be treated like that are cowards. AAPOL is a organization of timid sheep and cowards and they proved it today. Iam truly ashamed to be associated with it but we will find out how much money and who has stolen the money.

ReplyDeleteThis has long been an organization of gutless cowards. Those are just the facts. You may not like it but its true. Now think about this fact. The sergeants that were asking about the financil status of AAPOL were asking questions that the regular people that came to those meetings should have been asking long ago. But the average officer that goes to those meetings are very passive and some are cowards. You have all these police officers in a room and not one stands up and says that this is wrong to treat black men that had probably paid more dues into AAPOL and stood up against racism and unfairness against Black officer more than anyone on that board or in the room. If you were in the room and you did not have the courage to stand up and say this is wrong, this is shameful we should not be doing this you are not ready to be President of an organization that if it is to be effective whoever the leader is must have the courage to take issues to another levelwith a racist command staff and 3 black chiefs who tend to side with the racist in HPD when it comes to discipline against black officers. If you could not stand in that room and condemn what happened out in the open then you are a coward and Those racist white assistant chiefs wont loose any sleep if they hear that you are the president.

THEN THEY CHOOSE TO DISGRACE THEMSELVES BY BARRING RETIRED LIFETIME MEMBERS TO THE MEETING. THE QUESTION I AND MANY BLACK OFFICERS WONDER ABOUT IS THIS BECAUSE THESE SERGEANTS ASKED FOR FINANCIAL STAEMENTS AND WHAT THE BOARD WAS DOING WITH THE MEMBERSHIPS MONEY? NOW THESE SERGEANTS CAME IN AND HAD THE COURAGE TO CHALLENGE THE LEADERSHIP ABOUT ITS OBLIGATIONS TO THE MEMBERSHIP. WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS WHY DID NOT MORE MEMBERS HAVE THE COURAGE TO STAND AGAINST THIS DISPICABLE CONDUCT BY THOSE ON THE BOARD. ReplyDeleteI WOULD NOT TRUST ANYONE ON THAT BOARD. FOR YEARS THEY HAVE HAD MEETINGS WHERE NOT ONE WORD WAS SPOKEN ABOUT THE HARD TIMES AND DIFFICULTIES OF BLACKK OFFICERS AT SOME OF THESE STATIONS. THE CONVERSATIONS WERE MOSTLY ABOUT HAVING PARTIES AND RETIRED OFFICER SITTING AROUND TALKING ABOUT OLD TIMES. I BECAME DISENCHANTED WITH AAPOL BECAUSE THE PEOPLE WHO WERE IN CHARGE HAD NO INTEREST IN STANDING UP FOR THR RIGHTS OF BLACK POLICEMAN. I REALLY BELIEVE THEY WERE SCARED TO HAVE TO STND UP TO THE WHITE OFFICERS. I AM SAD ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED WITH THOSE BLACK RETIRED SERGEANTS BUT I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED THAT THEY WOULD BE TREATED LIKE THAT FROM THAT BOARD. THE NEW SERGEANT AT ARMS TOLD THE PRESIDENT. I HAVE GONE OVER THE BYLAWS AND IF THEY HAVENT PAID ANY DUES THEY ARE NOT MEMBERS. THE SERGEANT AT ARMS TOLD MITCH ILL HANDLE THIS ILL TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING. NOW I HAVE BEEN TO MEETINGS FOR YEARS AND I HAVE ALWAYS SEEN RETIREES AT MEETINGS PARTICIPATING IN VOTES AND EVERYTHING ELSLE. I HAD NEVER SEEN WHAT THEY DID TO ANY OTHER RETIREES EVER BEFORE. I AM ASHAMED THAT WE AS MEMBERS DID NOT STAND FOR THOSE MEN. I KNOW ONE OF THE SERGEANTS AND I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS AT MY STATION WITH A RACIST WHITE SERGEANT AND HE INVITED ME TO HIS HOUSE WHERE WE TALKED FOR TWO HOURS ABOUT HOW I COULD PROTECT MYSELF FROM UNFAIR SERGEANTS THAT ARE RACIST. HE ALSO CAME ME HIS CELL PHONE NUMBER AND TOLD METO CALL HIM ANYTIME I HAVE TROUBLE AT THE STATION. I REALLY APRECIATE WHAT HE HAS DONE TO HELP ME SINCE I HAVE COME TO HIM AND IN MY YEARS ON THEDEPARTMENT I HAVE NEVER ME SOMEONE SO EAGER TO HELP MYSELF AND OTHER OFFICERS AND AT THE SAME TIME HAVE THE COURAGE TO PUT HIS NECK ON THE LINE.
