RUMOR CONFIRMED: HE WANTS TO BE PRESIDENT OF THE NAACP!

For weeks the Insite has heard rumors that prominent Houston Pastor D.Z. Cofield was going to run for President of the NAACP Houston branch.  Well, Friday night that rumor was confirmed.  The Insite ran into Cofield at the NAACP Freedom Fund Gala.  I told him he'd ducked my calls in an attempt to address the rumor.  He told the Insite he was not ready then to confirm the allegation that he wanted to take the reigns as head of the civil rights organization.  But eventually he admitted he will run for the spot in local elections in November.  He said he will soon provide more details and his proposed platform for the organization. So, make sure you stay tuned for those details.

More about Cofield:

D.Z. Cofield is a native New Yorker. After graduating from Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, he earned a Masters Degree in Theology at the Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas and a Doctor of Ministry Degree at Faith Evangelical Seminary in Tacoma, Washington. In 1994, Cofield was chosen to serve as the Senior Pastor for the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church 3015 MacGregor Way, in Houston, Texas.
