They produce the popular and controversial Purple Stuff drink.
The local company has been under fire for allegedly marketing the drink in the African American community.
Critics say the drink is a play off the deadly cough syrup and codeine mix made popular by rappers in the south like D.J. Screw and Big Moe's hit song 'Purple Stuff'.
The illegal purple stuff has lead to some deaths involving high profile rappers and regular folk.
But while attempting to reach the maker of the legal version of the drink The Insite dropped in on their Tomball warehouse.
No one answered the door.
However, I was surprised to see a dumpster filled with cans of the Purple Stuff.
Why? I got no official answer.
But a look under the can shows a stamp that indicates the drinks are best used by May 5, 2010.
I deduce from that these are expired cans of the drink or as some say the drank.
By the way, the owner of Purple stuff says his drink is not targeting African Americans.
He also says Purple Stuff is designed for the kids and has nothing to do with the drug culture!

Well, it's a damn shame he didn't do better market research before trying to target youth with a drink called "Purple Stuff."
ReplyDeleteYes, considering the fact that 98% of sales nationally are non black, I would say this is true. The markets with the best penetration are Utah, Hawaii, and Arizona and not Houston, Texas.
ReplyDeleteOf course all one has to do is look at facebook and see well over 100,000 kids that love the soda that has every color in Purple.
Also was in Sunny D commercials in 1984.
Only people on drugs think a purple soda is marketing to a group to create victims.
If you read the label you would see it has nutrition...all B vitamins and would prevent childhood diabetes caused by regular sodas.
This is reporting for drama and opinion and no facts.
You show cans that are three years old to support your viewpoint. Also cut a quote short and out of context to make the other person look bad.
If you cared about your community you would understand a company that does more good than those reporting and also employs real people of all races.

It's funny how the owner of Purple Stuff wants to make money off the Black community but when they call him out on his irresponsible behavior he gets offensive. There is no way in hell that drink was marketed to White kids. What kind of fool does he take us for. Stay on top of him Ike.
