KEEP THAT UMBRELLA HANDY TODAY!Three counties are under an urban and small stream flood advisory as heavy rain hits areas north of Houston.
Waller, Grimes, and northern Washington County are under the advisory until 10:30 a.m. Central Time.
FOXRAD Radar showed heavy rain over areas north and northeast of Houston. The area received two to four inches of rain early Monday morning, with another two to three expected to fall by midmorning.
"We'll see rain heading slightly to the south and to the east," said FOX 26 Meteorologist Mike Iscovitz. "Flooding is possible in areas like Tomball, Kingwood, and Spring."
The National Weather Service warns drivers to never enter areas where water covers the roadway, as flood water is usually deeper than it can appear.
The thunderstorms are expected to clear the area by early afternoon, leaving temperatures in the high 70s.
